As you know last weekend was the Manor Farm open weekend. Thankfully the weather was kind and we only had a little bit of rain. The fishing on Saturday was excellent with a steady stream of carp coming at regular intervals throughout the day. Overnight the weather changed with the wind changing direction completely. This made the fishing on Sunday slower but it meant that we just had to try harder. As I said in my earlier blog we knew that we would catch a lot of fish up in the water, and this proved to be the case during the weekend. The ground bait we used, was full of different sized Marukyu pellets, broken boilies and 10mm boilies and then mixed with some liquid Krill and Sanagi worked really well. During the weekend I was joined on the bank by my two sons Matt and Bob and my good friend Adam Cooper who is a big fan of the Marukyu bait range. On both days we had a succession of anglers visit us on the bank to see what we were doing and how we were doing it. What was nice was that the anglers who we talked to all had a genuine thirst for knowledge about the Marukyu range and how best to use the various products. We showed some of our visitors how to mix the ground bait to get the best results and even showed some how to cast and use a marker float. I really enjoyed the weekend and I am looking forward to doing some more of these days. If you missed out on this weekend you must keep an eye out for any future shows.GROUNDBAIT RECIPE For those of you who want to know the exact groundbait recipe that we used at Manor Farm here it is. I must stress however that groundbait mixes can be varied to suit each venue so it is always worth experimenting with different ingredients to find what works best on your venue. 1. Take equal parts of EFG151 and EFG142 groundbaits and mix thoroughly in a bowl. 2. Add a generous sprinkling of Powdered Krill and Powdered Sanagi and mix thoroughly. 3. Add a generous handful of different sized Marukyu pellets and mix thoroughly 4. Add a generous handful of both 10mm Marukyu boilies and broken up bigger boilies. 5. Add a very large splash of Liquid Krill and a small splash of Liquid Sanagi and mix thoroughly. 6. Add a large handful of hemp and mix thoroughly. 7. Now add a little bit of water and mix thoroughly. Keep repeating this process until the mix is suitable to use. WARNING DO NOT OVER WET YOUR GROUNDBAIT it will not work properly. THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK Can fish tell the difference between good bait and bad bait? Of course they can, fish will naturally eat the best food source available, so why give them anything less than the best. |
