Rich Bedder managed a rather credible 4th this week fishing a match at the Glebe with a weight of 131lb using his favoured method of EFG131 and Krilled maggots. Rich has now fished a total of 22 matches at the Glebe this season for an amazing total weight of 2,600lb - all on Marukyu baits. Meanwhile Gordon Parker has been at it again with yet another match win under his belt, this time from Kingsland Res Nr Peterbourgh. Gordon fished three different pole lines with three different approaches – 13.5m line with cat meat over protein pellets, a 4.5m line with hemp and corn and a down the edge line with protein pellets and JPz as hook baits. His total weight was 92lbs which for the tonman as he's known locally must have meant he was giving the rest of the field a bit of a chance. Chris Allen fished a Mallory members event at the Glebe and not only managed to win the match with 143lbs but keep all his winnings this time as his travelling partner Ace couldn't make it due to a bad knee, not that he's complaining you understand. The winning tactics were 80 per cent EFG 131, 20 per cent EFG 120 - laced with krilled maggots fed through a pole pot in the margin with JPz on the hook. Gavin Leversidge got a section win on a day when Hallcroft fished very hard. He had 48lb of skimmers on chopped worm over a mix of EFG 131 with 20 EFG120 which is a proven bream mix that quite a few field testers have been using of late. Mick Wilkinson has been trying a new approach recently and has picked up three wins and nine other pick ups in the last 14 matches. Mick’s new approach consists of trying to find a depth of around 3.5 feet if possible and feeding it with EFG130 and EFG100 mixed 70/30 ratio with a pint of casters added, the hook bait being JPz. This has allowed him to pick off just about anything that swims during the match (mainly skimmers and roach) but with a good chance of bonus carp later on instead of going all out for carp the whole match. It certainly seems to be working for him and it just goes to show how a thinking angler of Mick’s ability can put together good bags of silvers and still frame. Andrew Williams has fished just four, yes four matches this week. My wife would kill me but that’s another story. Andrew has had a section win, a fourth, a third and a second, all four weights totalled up were 423lb. I don’t know where he gets the energy from but very well done. Stewart Miller fished a corporate match at the Glebe last week and picked the Pro Team's brains and to very good use it seems - winning his very next match. I think he must have been speaking to Rich as his winning method included EFG131 and Krilled maggots. Stewart weighed in just over 104lb whilst second place weighed 73lb. Natalie and Ben Emery are both now working a couple of Sundays a month in Apollo Marsh farm to help promote Marukyu products - now that’s what i call dedication. Francis O’Reilly set a new lake record at Field Farm Fisheries at Sandbach on Sandy Pool this week with 49lb 10oz. Francis alternated between 6mtrs on the deck with corn soaked in SFA430 and the long pole line shallow using 6mm Protein pellet. Second place was some 20lb behind, way to go, very well done on taking another lake record for Marukyu. As for me, this week I would love to say that I was out catching loads of fish but the shops is rather busy at the moment and the only day I got off the better half caught me and I ended up doing some jobs around the house - just goes to show can’t win ‘em all eh? |
