Marukyu Japan
How much are JPz really worth?
PDF Print E-mail
It has come to light that during the recent Angling Trust Masters match there was a less than honest person attending. Sad news i'm afraid but true. At the said event Mick Wilkinson left his peg only to return and find someone had shall we say ‘borrowed’ his jar of JPz but left all his tackle behind which amounts to thousands of pounds. I know JPz are fetching a few pennies on a certain web site but were they taken for this reason or to just try and cripple Mick’s match, I guess we will never know.
Anyway after the trauma of the JPz theft at the Masters Mick recovered enough to have two more 100lb+bags, unfortunately they were only good enough for minor envelopes - however it shows the effect of the krilled maggot and efg131 combo is still working as autumn approaches.
John Hall really is on a bit of a roll at the moment winning the final at Shersby Lakes against 42 other top rods and walking away with £2000 in prize money. I’m sure Roy said that all the prize money won was to be shared out equally between Marukyu anglers and staff... Oh well i suppose we can all dream!
Andy Kinder and Jamie Masson have won the Maver Pairs event for the second year running which was held at Maver Larford Lakes. A kind draw and EFG 131 did the damage for them.
Glen Greasley fished a little festival at Boddington Reservoir over two days which saw a total of 4,500lb of carp caught. Happy days. He was 2nd in section on the first day and with 210lb on the method with EFG131 and pellet and 1st on the 2nd day with 238lb on the method again with 1mm pellet and EFG131- which was going ok until a late switch to EFG151 on its own and the fishing just got better and better with fish just crawling up the line on the whistle and an overall festival win.
Chris ACE Downs managed yet another win on JCB North Lake with 97lb 8oz - just 50lb ahead of second place. I will let you into a little secret he did draw peg 76 probably the best peg on the lake which I suppose may of helped just a little bit. Fair play to Chris, the fish still had to be caught and he showed no mercy fishing the method feeder with pellets coated in SFA 440 and JPz on the hook.
Roy Marlow has been catching plenty of fish recently and after four wins at Packington fisheries was looking forward to a fifth last week but only managed 3rd place in a very tight match with 78lbs again EFG 130 and dead krilled maggots are doing the damage for him. Only 4 wins out of 5? I dont know – the school report reads ‘must try harder’.
Gavin N Leversidge fished a regional fire service team match last Thursday at Messingham Sands – and his team not only won the event but also Gavin took individual first prize as well.
The team tactics were to attack the margins with EFG151 and Krilled maggot but were Gavin differed was that he fed live krilled maggot instead of dead due to the depth of the margin being that bit deeper. It proved to be the winning tactic. The reasoning behind feeding live maggots in deeper water is they are denser than dead maggots and therefore sink quicker. Yet another little tip given away here.
On a personal note I fished a match at Marsh Trail Lakes, Beccels, Suffolk and came away with a win.
It was my first visit to this complex and the match was on C lake. I drew peg 16 and wasn't really sure how to attack the venue so plumped for an inline feeder with 3mm Nori pellets and EFG161 with worm as hook bait tipped off with a JPz pellet. This accounted for four carp and the pole fishing double JPz over 3mm Nori pellets which accounted for five carp. My weight was 40lb 6oz and second place weighed in 13lb 4oz so all things considered it was quite an enjoyable day.
